1997
EMD is founded as a repair service provider. Main activity is repair of endoscopic optics, endoscopic and surgical instruments.
2001
We launch our laparoscopic system as the first own product development.
2005
EMD steps out of being a local supplier and starts export activities in various markets. EMD begins to develop and produce neurosurgery devices.
2012
EMD relocates to new headquarters with more on site facilities. Company profile continues to expand.
2017
The company obtains CE approval for own neurosurgical and laparoscopy development.
2021
Product portfolio is further increased by six additional EMD product group receiving CE mark.

EMD is an independent manufacturer with integrated product design, production, and service. With own research and development department, EMD creates and engineers in its own on-site production center. This competence accompanies each product during its entire lifetime – from the first sketches to final assembly. EMD services and repairs all of its products in own service center to assure excellent after-sales services.

The management of the company is committed to meeting legal and customer requirements and to continuously maintaining and improving the effectiveness of EMD’s quality management system.
EMD has been operating a quality management system in accordance with EN ISO 13485 standard for medical device manufacturers, for 18 years. Our system is certified by an accredited Notified Body and we are constantly improving and refining it.

Through our product developments, our priority is to effectively support even those surgical procedures, which are still very complex or can only be performed with conventional surgery, so that they could be carried out with as few and small incisions as possible. In the near future, we continue to focus on minimal invasive developments and present new products for spine, – neuro, – and laparoscopic surgery.

Ensuring that we make the right choices to minimize our impact on the environment is really important to us, therefore we strive to implement environmental-friendly practices wherever we can.
01. Operation
Within our offices, production and service centers, we do our best to operate in the most environmental-friendly and sustainable way. Seeing the big picture, we get overwhelmed by tremendous work that needs to be done in taking care of our planet, but we can only do so much and we do it to the best of our capacities. We are aware of the importance of using renewable energy. By our 2 x 50kw solar panels systems, installed on the roof of our building, we cover a significant part of our electricity needs. Even though all our needs are not fully covered by alternative sources, it’s still a relevant factor for us.
02. Production
Special attention is paid to oily emulsions, metal shavings and sandblasting waste resulting from machining operations. Such substances are always transported to a facility that is authorized to handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
03. Packaging
We aim to maximize the amount of recyclable packaging of our products and we are committed to trialing materials as they become commercially available.
04. Delivery
Transporting products from our manufacture plant to our partners plays a large role in the carbon impact of what we make.
